The first year a criterium is included in the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, Michigan. In fact, the national radio of Holland, Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) featured an interview on their network about the race!

A huge turnout, with most categories filled up to the limit, made the day exciting from start to finish. The much anticipated showdown in the Men’s Elite race between BISSELL and Einstein Racing certainly lived up to the hype, as the two Michigan superpowers squared off almost man-to-man. The squads matched each other move for move right from the gun. Chad Rector of CyclingAndSuffering.Com gives us the FULL Category 4 recap: I was caught pretty quickly, as expected, and slowed up hoping for someone to counter attack so I could grab their wheel and be in a great position for the bunch sprint. Mike Bellovich made a good move on the back straight, where I had made many moves earlier to gain ground towards getting away from the back. He had a commanding lead of about 50 ft coming out of the final turn and carried his speed out of it quite well also. I tried to answer his move at the back but had to slow up to make the two turns before the final straight. Shortly after clearing the corner, and still on the front of the pack, I started sprinting ....
