ILLINOIS: Champaign - Tour de Champaign Criterium - PHOTOS RESULTS A steady rain greeted riders on this weekend opener, but it did not dampen the enthusiasm for this race that continues to gain popularity; drawing riders from six states (IL, IN, KY, MI, MO, WI) A mid race crash and generally high pace split the Pro 1/2 field several times on this basic rectangular course, but in the end, Texas Roadhouse came out on top with two riders on the podium.

On the women's side, it was the small Le Petites Victories team that dominated putting two of their riders in the 3 rider break and dominating the podium over Team PSIMET. Race winner Jannette Rho gives us the full race summary:

"We fired off a couple of attacks and as we expected, Psimet  responded. The other women in the field were quick to cover moves early in the race. While slimC was on the front, a little move went that included two women from Psimet. I was a bit out of position to respond quickly but I worked and moved up to cover it. It was a group of five that got a little gap so we started to rotate through. I took a hard pull into the wind then Kelli Richter (Psimet) pulled through telling me it was just us two. It seemed the other three fell off pace and suddenly we were in that position where we go for it to make the break work or sit up."

"Knowing we were gone, my attention went towards winning this thing. I was determined to make my team proud. I expected Kelli to go early so as we hit the last lap, I kept an eye for an early attack. I chose the final turn as the marker for my move if she didn’t go by then. We climbed the little hill before the turn and Kelli had yet to jump so I rounded the corner on the inside and went for it. I saw Kelli’s Psimet wheel creep up in the corner of my eye but I was able to stay on the gas and cross the line first. Woo!

ILLINOIS: Urbana - Urbana Grand Prix - PHOTOS RESULTS Day 2 of the Tour de C-U weekend started off wet as well, but for the Pro 1/2 event the weather started to break. Kyle Selph (Sammy's): "Sunday gave way to threatening skies and some light passing showers over the downtown Urbana area. Saturday’s wet course was challenging but doable. Sundays 8 corner, broken pavement, manhole covered course in the wet would be suicidal.  As we walked the course the rain had paused and the standing water seemed to be receding for the moment.

At the start of the race the pavement had just started to show signs of drying and we even caught a glimpse of the sun. The race started fast as usual and the pack didn’t seem to have any concerns with traction so I quickly put it out of my head and got down to business."
